Hello moms, I am currently 22 weeks, 5 days pregnant and at 18 weeks I found out that my baby boy is in the 98th percentile. My family is very tall and my hubbys side is very petite so I figured he was either going to be bigger or smaller. Turns out he is taking after my side of the family. My OB had told me that I am gaining more weight than I should be (before finding out that baby boy was so big) and I explained to her that my baby might be bigger than normal because my siblings as well as myself were very tall for example I’m 5’10, my brothers are about 6’2, mom is 6 ft and my grandpa was 6’5 but she told me that had nothing to do with my weight gain. Are there any other mommy’s who have the same situation? I work out every single day for at least a half an hour and I eat pretty healthy yet I am still gaining more weight than I’m supposed to be gaining. I can tell when he has growth spurts because I’ll go from normal feelings of hunger to extreme hunger but I still snack healthily (fruits, veggies, whole grain) it’s starting to stress me out ��.

Mine is measuring in the 95 percentile. Sounds like you are doing your best with working out and eating well. I wouldn’t stress too much...you look great.

not yet, I will be getting tested on the 25th but they said that my weight gain has started to decline the last time I went in. I’m hoping Im just one of those rare people who gain more in the first part of my pregnancy than in the last half. I did have a lot of testing done not that long ago because I had a migraine for almost two weeks and everything was coming back okay so that’s good. It ended up going away but it was a long 2 weeks ��

I was that way with my first (also a boy). I gained most of my weight in the second trimester and actually lost a few pounds towards the end of the third. I did gain 40 in total which was more than I wanted, but boy (now a toddler), has kept to the high end of the chart. Ask your mom or any sisters about their gaining pattern, they’re going to be your best resource to gauge.

my sister said she only gained around 40 but also said she wasn’t too certain because it was 10 years ago but her son was in the 90th percentile and he looks two years older than his cousin who is a year older than him �� so I feel like my son is going to tower both of them!

When I was pregnant with my daughter they told me I was measuring small, and she ended up being born in the 90th percentile for height and is still way taller than all of our friends kids who are a year or two older. This baby is measuring large, but I have been so sick, still vomiting, I’m still in the negative for weight gain. I think it’s hard for them to accurately measure them in there.

Just keep doing what you’re doing mama! and get ready for the footie pajamas to be too short ��.

The measurements aren't super accurate anyway, they can be off by a lot. Baby is likely on the bigger side, or your due date could be off by a week, it's not a big deal. Mine was measuring almost two weeks ahead, and my first baby was only 7 lbs 7 ounces at birth, and always measured big. It turns out those measurements are accurate up to plus or minus two weeks, and in weight in the second trimester the range is plus or minus several pounds in either direction...lol so not really accurate at all. We'll see a lot of stories on here about women being told their baby is measuring at 9 pounds and they'll end up weighing 7 when they are born. Plus everyone is just different and your weight gain doesn't stay constant. It will plateau at some point and you may not end up gaining any extra beyond what's recommended. I wouldn't stress at all.

My baby is in the 80th percentile, but the doctor said that doesn’t mean anything at this point because things can change, some babies grow at different rates and it’s possible that he grew a lot now and then will grow a bit slower later on.

I’ve also gained more weight than I should have but I’m not worried yet. You look great and from what you said you’re doing your best about your weight gain! I wouldn’t worry! Everyone is different!
