05/25/2024 1037hrs, Deputy Gray responded to a report of a car vs. deer accident on Arnold Trail in Alder Stream Twp. Michael Churchill (45) of Kingfield was driving a 2023 Toyota Tacoma when the collision occurred.
1136hrs, Sgt. Close recovered a wallet in Rangeley and was able to reunite it to its owner.
1159hrs, Deputy Couture received a 911 call on Dummer’s Beach Lane in Weld. This was an accidental dial.
1220hrs, Deputy Couture received a 911 call at a residence on Alfieri Drive in Carthage. The source of the call was not located.
1224hrs, Deputy Gray received a false report via 911 from a residence on Old County Road in Sandy River Plt. The caller was given a warning for misuse of 911.
1237hrs, Deputy Couture assisted a motorist with a new permit on Route 2 in East Wilton who had pulled over to allow an ambulance to pass which frightened the driver. A licensed passenger switched with the driver.
1610hrs, Deputy Elmes and Chief Lowell responded to a report of a single vehicle accident with injuries on Loon Lake Road in Dallas Plt. One of the passengers was life flighted to the hospital for immediate treatment. As a result of the investigation Samuel Knowles (17) of South Berwick was charged with Driving to Endanger and Operating with a Suspended License. CMP was called to the scene to repair the utility pole.
1822hrs, Sgt. Close received a complaint of an individual doing “burnouts” in a vehicle on Mile Square Road in Avon.
1902hrs, Sgt. Close responded to a report of an intoxicated male creating a disturbance at a residence on Main Street in Kingfield. As a result of the investigation Brian Williams (65) of Kingfield was arrested for Disorderly Conduct and Refusing to Submit to arrest. He was transported to jail.
2252hrs, Sgt. Bean responded to a car vs. moose accident on Route 17 in Letter D twp. Carrie Hutchins (51) of Cumberland was driving a 2020 Chevy pickup with the collision occurred.
2313hrs, Deputy Elmes responded to a disturbance call at a trailer on Bird’s Eye Road in Rangeley Plt. He was unable to locate the source of the reported issue.
05/26/2024 0724hrs, Deputy Gray responded to a domestic disturbance call involving a juvenile at a residence on Arnold Trail in Eustis. No charges were filed, a DHHS referral was made.
1142hrs, Deputy Gray received a 911 call on Herbie Welch Tail in Rangeley Plt. The source of the call was not located.
1147hrs, Deputy Frost arrested Kelly Ross (38) of New Sharon at a residence on the Weld Road in Wilton on a Warrant and transported her to jail without incident.
1427hrs, Sgt. Bean received a 911 call at a residence on West Freeman Road in Strong. This was an accidental dial.
1521hrs, Deputy Elmes responded to a parking lot accident at Flagstaff General Store in Eustis where a truck backed into another truck.
1844hrs, Sgt. Bean received a report of a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner on Mile Hill Road in New Sharon. He was unable to locate the vehicle.
2316hrs, Deputy Elmes and Sgt. Bean responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence on the Stratton Road in Rangeley. This was determined to be verbal only, no charges were filed, however a trespass warning was issued to one of the people involved.
05/27/2024 0845hrs, Lt. Rackliffe, Sgt. Sholan, Det. Richards and Deputy Wacome participated in the Memorial Day Parade in Jay.
1013hrs, Deputy Brann investigated a trespass complaint on Spruce Mountain Road in Avon.
1250hrs, Deputy Gray received a 911 call in Coplin Plt. The source of this call was not located.
1415hrs, Deputy Gray investigated an alleged conditions of release violation at a residence in Madrid.
1425hrs, Deputy Brann investigated an alleged theft of a lawnmower complaint at a residence on the Rangeley Road in Avon. This turned out to be a civil issue.
1544hrs, Deputy Gray received a 911 call at a residence on Dallas Hill Road in Dallas Plt. This was an accidental dial.
1603hrs, Deputy Frost received a 911 call on Rumford Road in Rangeley. This was a hiker and an accidental call.
1700hrs, Sgt. Sholan responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence on Foster Hill Road in Freeman Twp. This was verbal only; no charges were filed.
05/28/2024 0803hrs, Det. Davol conducted a school visit at Day Mountain Middle School in Strong.
1256hrs, Lt. Rackliffe served a person a summons and a Temporary Harassment order to a Weld man.
1307hrs, Det. Davol conducted a school visit at Phillips Elementary School.
1458hrs, Deputy Wacome assisted a disabled truck on the Mercer Road in New Sharon.
1545hrs, Sgt. Sholan conducted a jail release notification at a residence on Main Street in Kingfield.
1653hrs, Deputy Frost investigated an alleged theft complaint at a residence off from Route 27 in Coplin Plt. There was no evidence that a theft had occurred.
1809hrs, Sgt. Sholan stood by at a selectperson meeting at the Phillips Town Office. One person showed up, he cleared the meeting.
1817hrs, Sgt. Sholan received a request for a welfare check regarding a person who was overdue from a visit to Quill Hill in Rangeley. The person to be checked had a flat tire and was assisted by a Rangeley first responder.
05/29/2024 1108hrs, Deputy Brann investigated an alleged theft complaint from an account of the complainant from an ATM at Franklin Savings Bank in Rangeley where it was alleged that someone had taken the complainant’s daughter’s card and embezzled money. The video revealed that the daughter was the one taking out the cash.
1150hrs, Deputy Brann received a complaint of a fall detection on Stephens Road near the campground in Rangeley. He was unable to locate the source of the complaint.
1233hrs, Deputy Brann investigated a trespass complaint on Rumford Road in Rangeley.
1350hrs, Sgt. Close responded to a report of an unattended death on the Farmington Road in Strong. A man was found deceased in his vehicle. The death was not suspicious.
1417hrs, Deputy Brann received a complaint of a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner on the mercer Road in New Sharon. He was unable to intercept.
1532hrs, Deputy Frost conducted a welfare check at a residence on the Chandler Road in Industry. The person to be checked was located and found to be okay.
1517hrs, Deputy Wacome received a noise complaint on White School house Road in Temple.
1644hrs, Sgt. Sholan received a missing juvenile’s complaint on Number 6 Road in Phillips. The children were located by Warden Service K-9 team at 2142hrs.
1831hrs, Deputy Frost investigated a phone harassment complaint at a residence on the Swan Road in New Sharon. Investigation revealed that the call was made by a juvenile in error.
0632hrs, Deputy Clement investigated a threatening complaint on Main Street in Eustis.
1157hrs, Det. Davol arrested John Ellis (57) of Wilton on a Warrant after he turned himself in at the jail.
1416hrs, Deputy Brann received a complaint of lost property somewhere between Kingfield and Farmington.
1815hrs, Sgt. Sholan investigated a threatening complaint between neighbors at a residence in Rangeley. One neighbor was allegedly intoxicated and armed with a firearm. No charges have been filed at this time; the case is still under investigation.
2007hrs, Deputy Wacome responded to a report of a car vs. utility pole on the Stratton Road in Dallas Plt. Mindy LaValley (38) of Rangeley was driving a 2006 Dodge Van when she ran off the road into the utility pole bringing down power lines. The driver was transported to FMH for medical treatment, CMP was at the scene repairing the pole and clearing lines. Border Patrol assisted at the scene.
05/30/2024 1240hrs, Deputy Clement received what turned out to be a civil issue regarding a camp located on Salmon Ledge in Rangeley Plt.
1310hrs, Deputy Frost received a complaint of an alleged rabid fox on the Intervale Road in Temple. He was unable to respond.
1502hrs, Deputy Brann received a complaint of a green Dodge Charger speeding southbound on Route 4 in Sandy River Plt. He was able to find the vehicle but did not observe the bad operation.
1651hrs, Sgt. Sholan received a road rage complaint on the Salem Road in Salem Twp.
1939hrs, Lt. Rackliffe investigated a complaint of a suspicious vehicle in Weld, he stopped a vehicle on the Phillips Road. The person was looking for a lost dog.
2211hrs, Deputy Wacome received a disturbance call at a camper located off Route 2 in Carthage. Investigation revealed that people known to the complainant arrived at the camper and knocked on the door. The people who were knocking on the door were claiming ownership of the camper. This was a clear civil issue.
2239hrs, Deputy Elmes received a complaint of a disabled vehicle at the scenic overlook south of Rangely.
05/31/2024 0554hrs, Deputy Couture responded to a report of a car vs. dog accident on the Mercer Road in New Sharon. Misty Waters (28) of New Sharon was driving a 2018 Toyota Highlander when the collision occurred.
0804hrs, Sgt. Close received a complaint of a welfare check at a residence on Mingo Loop Road in Rangeley. The person to be checked contacted the caller before a deputy could conduct a visit.
0807hrs, Det. Davol conducted a school visit at Mt. Abram High School in Salem.
0847hrs, Deputy Couture investigated an online fraud complaint at a residence on Beans Corner Road in New Sharon.
1314hrs, Sgt. Close investigated a threatening complaint at a residence on the Farmington Road in Strong.
1424hrs, Deputy Couture investigated a complaint of illegal dumping on Narrow Gauge Road in Coplin Plt.
1850hrs, Deputy Wacome investigated a complaint of a tractor trailer in a sinkhole on South Strong Road in Strong. Peter Smith (47) of Newark NJ was driving a 2016 Volvo tractor trailer when he backed into a ditch, not a sinkhole.
1856hrs, Deputy Elmes investigated a trespass complaint on River Street in Strong.
2157hrs, Deputy Elmes received a burglary complaint on the Spring Road in Rangeley. This turned out to not be a burglary but a civil issue between a man and woman who are going through a divorce.
2332hrs, Deputy Wacome received a request for a welfare check at a residence on the Hennessey Road in Industry. The caller was very intoxicated and just had not contacted the person in a while and wanted to talk to them. Not a reason to conduct a welfare check.
Deputies also conducted 5 elder checks, 7 building checks and responded to 7 false 911 calls.
