Trying to change your username in Minecraft? Doing so is easy! If you're playing the Java version of the game on your computer, you can change your username on the official Minecraft website. For Bedrock, which uses the Xbox account system, you'll need to change your Gamertag on the Xbox website. This wikiHow guide shows you how to change the name that your character uses in-game for Minecraft Java Edition or Bedrock Edition.

Go to https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/login and log in. This is the official Minecraft website. If you're playing the Java version of the game, you'll be able to change your username on this site.[1]

    • There are a couple time limitations for usernames: You can only change your username once every 30 days. And, you can't change your username if your account was made in the last 30 days.
    • Changing your in-game username does not change your Minecraft website profile name.
  2. 2

Click My Games. This option appears in the left menu of your profile page, under your account name.

  2. 2

Type in a new Gamertag next to "Your new gamertag." Your gamertag can be between 1 and 12 characters (including spaces). It can't begin with a number.

They actually tell you here in the article, "In an effort to keep users from changing their names constantly, Mojang enforces a mandatory 30 day waiting period between name changes. This means that once you change your name, you'll have to wait at least 30 days before you can do it again."
